The Week in Review - with Lou Paquette
When we asked Lou to describe this week's markets - "moving sideways" is what seems to keep coming up.
Is Lou surprised at the U$D action?
I think many people, including Lou, are shocked that the DOW and S&P are making new highs.
This is a challenging market environment, that's for sure.

James Turk, from goldmoney.com had a comment that we shared with Mish, to get his reaction.
James says - " That the Fed was rilling to risk a dollar collapse, by cutting rates more than expected, shows how worried the Fed is about the U.S. economy". Well, Mike?
Mike and a lot of other commentators are pointing to conflicting signals - Dow at a new high, Gold soaring, the U$D falling like a stone, and are expressing some consternation at the cross currents.

Jack is not getting complacent just because he and John Ross have just been smacking home runs with their Yen trades. The surprise resignation of Japan's Pm, Abe, was not greeted warmly by the Markets.
Jack also has some words or warning about counting out the US Dollar. The Greenback has made some tricky 'head fakes' in the past, and so don't think the Buck is heading for file 13 just yet.
Have you ever given any thought to trading Currency options? Jack explains why he loves this investment strategy for FX traders.

You really have to feel for Jim - he has been on the road so much we like to kid him and call him "Airmiles".
Just back from Las Vegas and the Hard Assets conference - and so Jim shared a few of the themes he touched on for the Las Vegas audience. Jim weighs in on the recent Mexican decision to block off oil and methane exploration, for a good swath of the country. Before everyone gets too excited, Jim explains this is an attempt by Mexico to clarify some testy drilling and exploration and royalty issues.
Jim wraps with a look at the "Big Picture" for us, as we roll into the cooler days of Fall.

Byron and Kevin Kerr edit "Outstanding Investments" for Agora Financial, and both of them have been pointing to Gold and it's current strength, as more evidence that the U$D will continue to feel pressure, to the downside. (*Today the U$D hit a record low against the EURO).

Byron takes a few minutes to explain some of the issues that are creating such volatility in the Energy Sector. Did you know that some of the Refineries in North America, that we depend on for gasoline and other products are 40, 50 even 70 years old?
Breakdowns, blowouts and leaks and fires all take their toll. *Byron points out that there has not been a new Refinery built in North America since the Seventies - and yet the demand just keeps on rising.
What does Byron make of Russia's recent stunt in Arctic? Does Byron believe there is still money to be made in Oil and Gas plays?
Information YOU can use, when you consider investing in Energy, straight from one of America's most astute commentators.

John wrote two best-sellers: "The Coming Collapse of the Dollar- and How to Profit from it", along with James Turk, as well as "How to Profit from the Coming Real Estate Bust". Looks like John and James, were right, just a little early. With that being said, John takes little comfort on being right on both counts. John admits it is pretty hard to find much to be cheerful about when we see some of the numbers coming out of a cratering housing market, a debilitated U$ Dollar, and millions of people struggling to make ends meet. This week John tries to put this all in perspective, and he admits that these issues are keeping him up at night, along with a lot of the other analysts that we talk to every week. I guess we could sum up this week's visit with that line from Hill Street Blues back in the 90's - BE CAREFUL OUT THERE.
